Green Bay Packers Interested In Maxx Crosby-Esque Pass-Rusher
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are in need of another edge rusher, and they are apparently interested in a prospect being compared to Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby.

Tom Pelissero of NFL media has reported that the Packers have already met with University of Kansas pass rusher Austin Booker, who has also visited with a handful of other teams.

Green Bay would almost surely not be considering taking Booker with the 25th overall pick, but it could end up selecting him on Day 2 of the NFL Draft later this month.

Booker is coming off of an impressive 2023 campaign in which he racked up 56 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, eight sacks and a couple of forced fumbles.

The Greenwood, In. native actually began his collegiate career at Minnesota, spending two years with the Golden Gophers before transferring to Kansas due to a lack of playing time.

It ended up being a great move for Booker, as he put forth a terrific year in his lone season with the Jayhawks to bolster his draft status.

The Packers were a middle-of-the-road team in terms of rushing the passer this past year, finishing with 45 sacks. So, it’s not like Green Bay is in desperate need of help in that area. However, it could certainly use some assistance on the edge, especially if it plans on contending for a Super Bowl next season.

The Packers were one of the NFL’s most pleasant surprises in 2023, going 9-8 and making the playoffs. They even went on to upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
